The Booking Lifecycle
Every booking in LodgeKit follows a lifecycle with clear statuses. Understanding these statuses helps you manage your operation efficiently and know exactly where each booking stands.
Pending
The booking has been created but not yet confirmed. Use this for tentative reservations or bookings awaiting payment.
Confirmed
The booking is confirmed and the unit is reserved. The guest, resident, camper, member, or customer is expected on the booking, stay, reservation, or tenancy start date.
Reserved
Similar to confirmed, used for advance reservations. The unit is blocked on the calendar.
Started
The booking, stay, reservation, or tenancy has started. The unit status automatically changes to Occupied.
Ended
The booking, stay, reservation, or tenancy is complete. The unit is released and any final charges are added. The unit status returns to Available (or Dirty if housekeeping is enabled).
Cancelled
The booking has been cancelled. The unit is released and made available for other bookings.
Changing a Booking Status
To change a booking's status, open the booking from the bookings list and use the action buttons at the top of the detail page. You will see buttons like Start, End, or Cancel depending on the current status. Each status change is recorded in the booking's audit trail.
You cannot skip statuses. A booking must be Confirmed before it can be Started, and Started before it can be Ended. This ensures your records are accurate.
